West Mountain Road to Close Tuesday for Bridge Move
CHESHIRE — West Mountain Road is set to close Tuesday, Sept. 22, so crews can move a temporary bridge, according to a town notice posted late last week, with an official notification to follow Monday.

The Town of Cheshire posted a notice this week that West Mountain Road will be closed starting at 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 22, a tentative date, while crews relocate a temporary bridge. The town said an official notification with further details will go out Monday, Sept. 21.
The town also announced "Coffee with the Chief," a community event scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 1, giving residents a chance to meet with police leadership.
Separately, Cheshire's Board of Health will hold a public hearing on well regulations on Monday, Oct. 5, at 9 a.m., the town said in a notice posted this week.
COMMUNITY & ARTS
The Cheshire Public Library is rolling out several new programs for young patrons this week. A new creative writing club, "Make Me an Author," opens Monday for third and fourth graders, giving them a chance to develop characters and illustrate and bind their own stories. On Tuesday, the library debuts a beaded keychains craft session for grades 3-5, sponsored by the Friends of the Cheshire Public Library, alongside a teen volunteer session to help run it. The library also opens its weekly Mahjong Meetup to adults of all experience levels on Wednesday afternoon in the Loft.

Several dated items are on the calendar over the next week. The Cheshire Public Library's Board of Directors meets Monday, Sept. 21, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in the Loft. The library also continues its regular early-literacy offerings, including Preschool Storytime for ages 3-5 Monday at 10 a.m., a STEAM Jr. "Eating Science" session for ages 3-5 Monday at 11 a.m., Teen Volunteering Monday from 4 to 5 p.m., and Time For Twos for ages 24-36 months Tuesday at 10 a.m., followed by Whimsical Ones for ages 12-24 months Wednesday at 10 a.m.
